About

History

As the name suggests, Northridge, established in the 1970’s, is located on the north end of Longmont and is the community center for a beautiful, established neighborhood. The water-wise xeriscape garden provides a striking entrance to a school filled with warmth and care.

School Focus

Our School Focus is high achievement for ALL by All while honoring diversity. We offer English and Spanish instruction while also focusing on intensive English Language Development for All.

To work towards reaching these goals, a Professional Learning Community exists that allows the staff to analyze data to drive their instruction, while professional development activities are in place to support both reading and writing efforts including English language acquisition.

Curriculum:

  • Our Reading Curricula are Literacy by Design and Lectura
  • Math Curriculum is Math Expressions
  • Our Writing Curriculum is Units of Study with assessment using the 6 Traits model
  • Word Study is Spelling for Writers
  • English Language Development is supported with Avenues and the Sheltered English protocol

Achieving Academic Success

A positive learning environment that includes a bilingual teacher (sometimes two) at each grade level collaborating with other grade level classroom teacher(s) focusing on student needs and maximizing the learning opportunities for both populations of children is in place at Northridge.

What Makes Northridge Unique

Outstanding Art, Music, and Physical Education programs for all students.

A comprehensive physical education program that includes a climbing wall for students.

Conflict resolution training at all grade levels through a comprehensive peer mediation program that promotes positive character traits in the Project Character club and Peace Place training.

An active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) that provides a multitude of activities including potlucks, an art show and a jog-a-thon to support students, staff and instruction.
